Cove Park – Varuna exchange: In August Victoria will spend four weeks at Varuna, the National Writers House in Katoomba, which is located in the world heritage Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, Australia.
Victoria has been awarded a Saari Residency (Kone Foundation) and will be spending two months in south-west Finland working on a new project, Vegetal Souls, exploring the life of plants through poetry, short fiction and essays.
Victoria was awarded a Hawthornden Fellowship and spent four weeks at Hawthornden Castle in Midlothian, completing her novel Brantwood and writing short fiction for her first collection, Creaturely.
Timespan Museum & Arts Centre, Helmsdale, Sutherland. Victoria was awarded a two-week residency to explore the concept of ‘Deep Time’ in relation to her own creative practice.
Creative Carbon Scotland: ‘Thinking Through the Anthropocene‘ at Cove Park. Victoria attended this three-day interdisciplinary residency exploring artistic practice and sustainability, with sessions led by Jan Bebbington (Professor of Accounting and Sustainable Development, Director, St Andrews Sustainability Institute) and Lex ter Braak (Director of the Van Eyck Institute).
Emerging Scottish Writer Residency at Cove Park Artist Centre (11th August – 7th September 2014) awarded to give Victoria time to begin writing her first novel, Brantwood.
Between 2013-16 Victoria was a participant in Loch Computer, an interdisciplinary three-year project funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh, exploring the themes of remoteness and connectedness. This project involved writers, artists and scientists from institutions across Scotland and outcomes included The Book of Iona (Polygon, 2016), an anthology of writings about the island of Iona. Victoria also contributed a text extract and sound recording to the ‘Loch Computer’ exhibition held at the Edinburgh College of Art in March- April 2016.
Victoria has read her work at the Ullapool Book Festival, The Scottish Poetry Library, The Kemptown Bookshop (Brighton), and at the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award Showcase.
